Discovery Academy, located in Toledo, Ohio, is a tuition-free community school serving grades K-6 and focusing on 21st century skills and project-based learning.
Discovery Academy strives to empower our students with tools that they may not otherwise have access to due to economic constraints. There is a need to enable them to envision the world beyond their own neighborhood. It is our desire to expose them to people and places they never would have had an opportunity to meet or see. They will be empowered to see the difference they can make in their own community as they engage in project-based learning.
Understanding and using technology will be an integral part of virtually every aspect of daily life for our students. It is our mission to transform the learning process with technology-infused projects beneficial to the community, while promoting collaboration, global awareness, and high student achievement.
Located on the beautiful campus of the Sisters of Notre Dame near the corner of Secor Rd. and Monroe St., this family-friendly community school is now scheduling tours and enrolling students for the 2015-2016 school year. We'd love to hear from you about how we can serve the educational needs of your family. Call today, reserve your spot, and discover the difference.
A message from Mr. Noah Campbell, School Leader
As you may have seen on the news recently, Kroger is moving forward with it's plans to build a mega-store of the property they have agreed to purchase from the Sisters of Notre Dame. This property includes our building, and it seems like our chance to stay in this facility long-term are slim at best. Here's what I can tell you which will hopefully make you feel better about the situation.
Our lease runs through the 15-16 school year, meaning unless we choose to leave early, we have the entire next school year to enjoy our wonderful building. We plan on opening up an additional third grade next year to accommodate our growing student body, and we are excited for another prosperous year in this building.
The only way our board would agree to vacate our lease early is if we found a new location which was just too good to pass up. If such a facility presents itself, and a decision like that is made, we would make sure to communicate that to the parents ASAP.
As far as the 2016-2017 school year and beyond, our board, sponsor, and management company are working hard together to find a new location that will allow us to continue to operate a high-quality educational institution for our families. Such a location would hopefully include many of the wonderful amenities we currently enjoy such as spacious classrooms, a gymnasium, and large green areas for our kids to run and play outside.
No one knows what the future holds, but I promise you that no stone will be left unturned in our quest to find the perfect place to call a long-term home for Discovery Academy. No matter where we end up, we will continue to employ a high-quality staff and offer an educational program that our students and parents can be proud of. Thank you for your patience in this matter, and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the school, or by e-mail.
