Discovery Academy, located in Toledo, Ohio, is a tuition-free community school serving grades K-6 and focusing on 21st century skills and project-based learning.
Discovery Academy strives to empower our students with tools that they may not otherwise have access to due to economic constraints. There is a need to enable them to envision the world beyond their own neighborhood. It is our desire to expose them to people and places they never would have had an opportunity to meet or see. They will be empowered to see the difference they can make in their own community as they engage in project-based learning.
Understanding and using technology will be an integral part of virtually every aspect of daily life for our students. It is our mission to transform the learning process with technology-infused projects beneficial to the community, while promoting collaboration, global awareness, and high student achievement.
Located on the beautiful campus of the Sisters of Notre Dame near the corner of Secor Rd. and Monroe St., this family-friendly community school is now scheduling tours and enrolling students for the 2015-2016 school year. We'd love to hear from you about how we can serve the educational needs of your family. Call today, reserve your spot, and discover the difference.
A message from Mr. Noah Campbell & Mrs. Barbara Kosch
School Leader & Instructional Coach for Discovery Academy
On February 18th, our Board of Directors approved our move to our new "forever home", and we could not be more excited about the possibilities it holds. The school is located at 2740 West Central Ave., just around the corner and 1.4 miles from our current location.
This giant complex features a huge green area for recess, a future community garden, a baseball diamond, an outdoor picnic shelter, a gymnasium, a library, a courtyard, an auditorium, two computer labs, and much more. In addition, it has enough classroom space to ensure that we will be able to keep our sixth grade intact for years to come, something we would not have the option to do staying in our current location. Prior to us moving in, there will be a lot of work done on the building to make sure it is up to the standards of our families. Our current plan is to start moving as soon as this school year ends, and we hope to have it up and running for tours by mid-July, with a Grand Opening BBQ to take place in early August!
The most important thing for us is to ensure that the quality educational program we have built at Discovery over the past three years will continue as we grow in our new home, and we feel that this building gives us the best chance to continue that journey with your children. For your convenience, we have pictures of the proposed floor plans and of the building itself. Just click here! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at the school. Thank you for all your support!
