Welcome to Our Community Garden

Discovery Academy's community garden is designed to assemble a team of dedicated, enthusiastic students who will create a successful community garden and farmers’ market that is fun and rewarding for everyone. Mrs. Mann oversees the garden and answers to the Garden Committee which is comprised of volunteers from within the school and external donors. This garden serves our Discovery students, their families, and community members that come to our student-led farmers market.  A combination of vegetables and flowers are grown in the garden, and it was 100% funded by donations from local businesses and other organizations, who contributed tools, seeds, wood, soil and fencing.  A portion of the food grown is used as a healthy snack choice for students attending Discovery Academy. The garden consists of eight “U” shape raised garden beds, with each bed having 100 square feet of planting area.  Gardening is a socially empowering experience and it is important to include all individuals at Discovery regardless of ability or background.
